Spotify Premium: The 1975.

On the eve of The 1975 latest album, Notes on a Conditional Form, Spotify and the band announced a gig for their top 100 fans.


We wanted the aesthetic to resemble punk posters of the 70’s, which is something the band were doing at the time too. We also wanted to stay true to their latest album artwork from artist Samuel Burgess-Johnson so combining elements from both, I  started to form a look and feel.


The idea is based around the idea that the gig was coming to life through posters found on the street. We would take the user on the journey of following the fans queuing outside, watching the excitement build,  interviewing the band then finally the the gig itself.


Spotify & the band went for the idea instantly. The final assets were then shared through various social platforms.

Sorted with the Dyers is the first podcast of father/daughter combo, Danny and Danni Dyer. This campaign was one of the first to launch on the newly branded Spotify Podcasts. Part of the art direction is based around the handwriting of the Dyers so I was tasked with bringing the type to life while editing the social videos for Instagram & FB.

Max & Harvey is a podcast based around reminiscing about people’s time in school and remembering past times. Given our market is gen-z, the initial creative brief was simply to add basic imagery in the background using a greenscreen-like effect, native to the TikTok platform.

Upon further exploration, we found the asset simply unengaging considering it being a 60” asset that needed to keep attention spans for a modern age. Max & Harvey are known for their silly humour so we developed our an art direction based around doodles coming to life that could interact their world.  

I went onto animate using a mixture of 2D and 3D styles

Sex, Lies & DM Slides talks about the perils of online dating starring Gizzi Erskine & Sydney Lima.

The art direction is influced by french new wave cinema and what they might look today in a modern tech filled landcape.  

The camapign would go onto include teasers for the new show through teasers, parodies & walk throughs across FB, TikTok and IG 

No aubergine emojis were hurt in the process.






Spotify Record Label Stories: Kalawa Jazmee.

For Spotify South Africa, the Kalawa Jazmee record label is celebrating it’s 25th aninversary and Spotify asked us to make an RLS about the history of the studio. The label is known for it’s influence in pop culture so taking influence from KJ, South african iconography and the famous red bucket hat, I built an art direction around these elements and presented to Spotify.

Creating this playbook with almost interactive elements was an additional story telling mechanic that helped sell the idea further so Spotify could see it how the design would come to life before going into production.  

Production of the asset was then passed to another designer to follow through to completion.
